Logo Ping Golf
The G740 maximizes distance, forgiveness, and consistency, making it an excellent choice for golfers who prefer a super game-improvement iron that delivers higher ball speeds and a higher launch. The wider sole, longer blade, and thicker topline combine to lower the center of gravity and increase the moment of inertia (MOI) for greater forgiveness. The PurFlex badge in the cavity, with three flexing zones, helps control face flex while improving feel and sound.
suola inserto

Wider Dual-Curved Sole
The dual-curved sole helps position the center of gravity lower and further back, resulting in higher ball speeds and a higher flight. The iron glides through the turf more easily.

Pleasing Feel and Sound
Behind the thin, flexible face, a PurFlex insert with three flexing zones helps control face flexing while enhancing touch and sound.

faccia address

Larger, Faster Face
The Hyper 17-4 stainless steel face flexes more to generate greater ball speed, higher flight, and longer distance, with more forgiveness to hit and stop the ball on the green.

Maximum Forgiveness
The longer blade length and thicker top line contribute to a higher MOI, making it PING's most forgiving iron. The wider face helps ensure more consistent shots for the golfer aiming for precision.

profilo shaft

Forgiving Sole
The wider sole offers more forgiving turf interaction, and the shorter hosel allows for more mass accumulation in the cavity for an improved impact experience. High-density weights adjust the swing weight.

Stock Shafts
True Temper's Dynamic Gold Mid 100 promotes a mid launch angle and spin rate with a stable feel. The PING ALTA CB Blue graphite is lightweight and counterbalanced for a mid-high or high launch.

Notes

  • These are design specifications that may vary due to manufacturing tolerances
  • The lie angle is based on the black color code at standard length
  • Power Spec Loft is an option suitable for players who want to increase iron distance or decrease spin to achieve the desired trajectory window
  • This custom-designed loft configuration offers a calculated power increase without sacrificing the integrity of the iron's design
  • Bounce angles will vary slightly if ordered with non-standard loft specifications
  • Standard Swing Weights for irons with graphite shafts are 2 to 3 points lighter than shown, depending on shaft flexibility
  • Standard Swing Weights for irons with Alta Distance graphite shafts are 2 to 5 points lighter than shown - Longer irons are lighter
  • Achievable Swing Weights depend on shaft, length, and grip combinations
  • Available in left-hand and right-hand models.

SHAFT

PING offers a variety of steel and graphite shaft flexes to suit your needs and preferences. Choosing the shaft flex that best matches your swing will help you achieve maximum distance and accuracy with every shot. In general, players with higher swing speeds need stiffer shafts to maintain a lower ball trajectory, while players with lower swing speeds need more flexible shafts to achieve a higher ball trajectory.

The choice between steel or graphite shafts is usually based on weight and/or feel preferences. Players looking for a lower overall weight and/or a softer feel in their irons might prefer graphite shafts, while players who prefer a standard-weight club with a stiffer feel might prefer steel shafts.

We recommend seeking expert advice to find the shaft that allows you to play your best. Whether it's a softer, lighter shaft with a higher launch angle or a heavier, stiffer shaft with a lower trajectory, a PING Certified Club Fitter can help you find the shaft that gives you more consistency in your game.
