Graphite Design Tour AD EK – Wood Shaft
The Graphite Design Tour AD EK “Extra Kick” is the new premium shaft in the Tour AD family, designed to provide an excellent combination of speed, distance, stability, and feel.
Manufactured exclusively in Japan, the Tour AD EK is designed to produce a mid-to-high launch paired with controlled mid-to-low spin, an ideal combination for increasing flight distance while maintaining high accuracy.
Its profile is designed to offer a smooth yet decisive loading, with a dynamic response during the swing that allows the player to make the most of the speed they generate.
“Extra Kick” Profile
The name EK – Extra Kick identifies the main characteristic of this new shaft.
The EI profile features a stiff butt section, a firm mid-section, and a stable tip. This configuration allows for the combination of good shaft loading with a precise response in the final part of the swing, promoting efficient energy transfer to the clubhead.
The result is a sensation of powerful yet controlled kick, designed to help the player generate speed without sacrificing stability and precision.
Mid-to-high launch and controlled spin
The Tour AD EK was developed to produce a mid-to-high launch with limited spin levels.
The EK-4 model is geared towards a mid/high launch and low/mid spin profile, while the EK-5, EK-6, EK-7, and EK-8 maintain a mid-to-high launch associated with low to mid-low spin.
This combination is particularly attractive for those looking to increase carry without generating excessive spin that could compromise distance.
Next-generation materials
For the construction of the Tour AD EK, Graphite Design uses aerospace-grade carbon fiber materials, including 50-ton high-modulus materials.
The new TORAYCA T1200G with NANOALLOY technology is used in the tip area, designed to increase stability in the mid and tip sections of the shaft while maintaining a high-quality feel at impact.
The shaft also integrates the proprietary AD Shield technology and Graphite Design's Material Stiffness Integration (MSI) design philosophy.
AD Shield
AD Shield technology helps optimize the distribution of stiffness along the shaft, allowing for a combination of stability and a smooth feel during loading.
TORAYCA T1200G
The T1200G is a ultra-high-modulus carbon fiber material used in the tip area to increase stability and make energy transfer more efficient.
50-ton materials
The use of 50-ton high-modulus carbon fiber allows for a high ratio of lightness, stiffness, and stability.
A complete family for different swings
The Tour AD EK is available in EK-4, EK-5, EK-6, EK-7, and EK-8 versions, with different weights and flexes to suit a very wide range of swing speeds.
| Model | Available Flex | Weight |
|---|---|---|
| Tour AD EK-4 | R2, R1, S, X | 48.5–51.5 g |
| Tour AD EK-5 | R2, R1, S, X | 55–59 g |
| Tour AD EK-6 | SR, S, X, TX | 64–70 g |
| Tour AD EK-7 | S, X, TX | 74.5–78.5 g |
| Tour AD EK-8 | X | 84 g |
All models have a standard length of 46" and a tip diameter of .335". Torque varies from 5.3° in the EK-4 up to 2.6° in the EK-8, following the increase in weight and stiffness.
Which Tour AD EK to choose?
The choice of model and flex should be made based on swing speed, swing style, and the characteristics of the desired trajectory.
Pro's Choice guidelines based on driver speed are:
| Driver speed | Indicative flex |
|---|---|
| 71–85 mph | R2 – Lite/Senior |
| 86–95 mph | R1 – Regular |
| 92–98 mph | SR – Stiff Regular |
| 96–105 mph | S – Stiff |
| 105+ mph | X – X-Stiff |
| 110+ mph | TX – Tour X-Stiff |
These are, of course, general indications: the choice of the ideal shaft should also take into account the player's swing tempo, release point, dynamics, and trajectory.
Who is it for?
The Graphite Design Tour AD EK is particularly suitable for players looking for:
- increased flight distance;
- a mid-to-high launch;
- low or mid-low spin;
- a smooth and powerful loading sensation;
- high stability in the terminal part of the shaft;
- greater energy transfer efficiency;
- a balance between speed and control.
It is a particularly interesting solution for those who want to increase speed and carry without giving up precision, taking advantage of a profile capable of combining stability and response at impact.
Why choose the Graphite Design Tour AD EK?
✓ New Generation Tour AD – It is the new 2027 Graphite Design shaft designed to maximize speed and distance.
✓ Extra Kick – Profile designed to offer a smooth loading and a dynamic response during the release.
✓ Mid-to-high launch – Helps to achieve favorable launch conditions to increase carry.
✓ Controlled spin – Designed to keep spin low or low/mid, depending on the model.
✓ T1200G + NANOALLOY – Advanced materials to increase stability, efficiency, and quality of feel.
✓ Wide choice of weights and flexes – Five families, from the ~50g EK-4 to the 84g EK-8.
✓ Made in Japan – Manufactured exclusively at Graphite Design's Japanese facilities.
The Graphite Design Tour AD EK “Extra Kick” therefore represents a new interpretation of the Tour AD shaft: more speed, mid-to-high launch, controlled spin, and a powerful response, with the stability necessary to maintain control even when the swing becomes more aggressive.
